Prevent Duplicate Course Assignments Across Organizations and Self Purchases

Currently, a user can be assigned to the same course multiple times — either by different organizations or by purchasing the course individually. This can cause access conflicts, incorrect ownership, and confusion in course visibility.

Proposed Feature:

• When assigning a course to a user, check if the user already has access to that course:

  • Assigned by another organization

  • Purchased by the user individually

• If the user already has access, block the duplicate assignment or show a warning message.

• Ensure that this check works consistently for both organization assignments and self-purchases.

Benefit:

• Prevents duplicate access and potential permission conflicts

• Improves user experience by avoiding confusion

• Maintains clean assignment data across organizations and individual purchases
